The Big Bend Chapter of The Council for Exceptional Children
(CEC) provides direct access to local activities and projects that link to
state and national activities and initiatives of CEC. This includes networking
with others interested in exceptional student education, special programs and conferences, advocacy,
specialized resources, eligibility for awards and grants, and special projects.

Florida Council for Exceptional Children

The Florida Council for Exceptional Children (FCEC) provides a means for networking, professional development, and information-sharing with other CEC members across Florida. Activities include sponsoring an annual conference and leadership training, disseminating news of events and resources electronically via a variety of formats, conducting advocacy, conducting an awards program, and supporting the activities and positions of the Council for Exceptional Children.

CEC advocates for appropriate governmental policies, sets professional standards, provides professional development, advocates for individuals with exceptionalities, and helps professionals obtain conditions and resources necessary for effective professional practice.
